Planer snipe is something we all want to avoid. Unfortunately, unless you paid $4,000 for your planer, avoiding this problem can be near impossible.
You can search YouTube for a variety of ways to avoid this or minimize the amount of snipe you get when dimensioning your lumber.
One technique I am going to employ in the future can be found here Eliminate Your Snipe.
However, if you don’t want to or have the time to build a sled for your jointer, the video I attached in this blog is a way I deal with planer snipe.
The best part is you don’t need any special tools and if you dimension your lumber now, you already have all the power tools you will need.
The missing ingredient is just a little bit of planning when dimensioning your boards to final thickness.
Watch the video and I will show you how I avoid planer snipe.
As soon as I employ Drew Short’s planer bed fix, I will post an article on how well it works.
Until then, thanks for watching and reading. Please comment on the posts and contact us if you have any questions or future post ideas.
And don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel as well as my Facebook page and Twitter page.
Adios for now,
